Lava flowed down the Philippines' most active volcano sending more than 34,000 villagers fleeing to safety. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the lava flowed as much as 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the crater of Mount Mayon. (Jan. 16)
